Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend felt fairly productive.

I was able to FINALLY make a siggy block for Sunni/Stash Bee. We decided to make these after I had already sent in my block, so mine is coming in a tad late.

I caught up on my blocks for Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL! Thank goodness! I hate getting behind!

I got all my charms cut for the I Spy Charm Swap.

And I reached 100 followers! Can I get a WHAT! WHAT!? So, I may have been doing a little planning and sketching for the giveaway. :) I have to make a zipper pouch for Mouthy Stitches, so why not make an extra one?

Ok, I know some of you don' care about what goes on in my personal life, so you can stop reading now. If you want to see what else I did this weekend (besides laundry. I spared you the pictures of that!), read on!

We started out with a nice walk. Brent has Fridays off work which means every weekend is a three day weekend! It gives us time to do those fun family things that a lot of people don't have time for with only two days off.

Brent and I went on our first date SANS baby! We met up with a couple of our close friends for some super duper yummy Olive Garden. I ate WAY too much then got dessert. :)

This is my friend Christi. She just started a creative writing blog. Psh. English majors.

Brent and I are the directors for the Saturday Night Gathering at our church. I love going on Saturday night because it's finished in time for us to still go out afterwards AND I get to sleep in on Sunday mornings! Normally, Brent is on stage, rocking out with his electric guitar, but this week he got to be with us for worship so he stole my baby and danced and sang with her. It was really sweet. I wanted to share.

And that about wraps it up. We got a lot done! The only bad things about this weekend was little Miss Mazer's teeth hurting. Poor baby. I think she may have an ear infection too, so I am taking her to the doctor today. Cross your fingers for us that she doesn't!!

I also want to share with you this awesome new contest that's going on over at Ellison Lane. She has officially launched a modern mini quilt/mug rug contest with lots of great prizes for winners from Fat Quarter Shop. You should pop over and check it out. I, unfortunately, will not be participating since I need to learn to say 'no' occasionally, but you should! It looks like lots of fun!

A fantastic weekend

I know this is coming to you Tuesday, but that's because we celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day yesterday meaning I got a three day weekend! And, even better, the MIL watched Maze ALL DAY Monday so I could get some sewing in!! So anyway, here's how it went.

fabric

First, I did a little shopping. :) I hit up SAS, the bolt end store out here and I pretty much picked it clean! Then, when I got home, I found lots of packages waiting for me! I made something fun from that Cloud 9 arrow fabric, but I'll show you that tomorrow so I have time to take a couple decent pictures.

Centerpiece closeCenterpiece flowers

Helped my bestie make the centerpieces for her wedding. There are still more to do, but we ran out of materials so we're going to finish another day. I also hung all the bunting decorations around the house for her Bridal Shower on Saturday. I'm so excited for it to just be here already!!

earrings

Then I got an itch for some new earrings, so I made some. The second pair are for Kina since she let me take a break from centerpieces to make them even though we were up to our necks in burlap!

How I stay organized

I figured I ought to get SOME sewing in so I don't fall too far behind. (Let's see if Laura's paying attention, shall we?)

Beejeebers

This baby is going to Miss Jamie at Busy Bee Quilts for the Beejeebers Bee. She asked for wonky trees, houses, or log cabin blocks and since EVERYONE else seemed to be making the trees and houses, I chose the log cabin route. I like to be different, in case you couldn't tell.

friendshippinwheel

And I finished up these babies for Sew. Happy. Geek.'s Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL. Catastrophe struck as I was working on the pinwheel. My machine broke!!! It started to make "KUNK! KUNK! KUNK!" noises and it scared me... a lot. I almost cried. Ok. Not because I was scared, but I did almost cry! The pinwheel is off a bit, but she (Vera. Vera the Viking) made it through until it was complete. I took her in today to be looked at by the nice Husquarvarna doctor, Clarrisa, and she's home now resting mostly. I may have made something else on her anyway... I have to give it a few more days and see if the machine keeps making those terrible, dying noises, and if it does, I will have to send it in to be serviced meaning no sewing machine for a minimum of 5 weeks!!!! I don't know what I am going to do without a machine for 5 weeks, so I'm just praying she was just on her period or something and things are going to be fine now! Temperamental, that one is.

So that was my weekend, aside from the thing I am going to share with you tomorrow, of course. Oh yeah. And I finished the second Psych book. On to book three!

How was your weekend?

Sew Happy Geek QAL Blocks

Yesterday was spent rolling on the ground, punching Mr. Never-Fall-Down Penguin, bouncing and eating fake picnic food with my little Maze. I did not cook. I did not clean. I did not sew. It was a great day.

Last night, though, I took a quick dive into my mess of a sewing room to complete my two blocks for the Sew.Happy.Geek QAL.. I was having a hard time deciding which fabrics I should use. Should I do aqua and orange? The oh-so-popular aqua and red? Should I try something different and use lots of warm colors since I generally lean toward cooler ones? Should i use all solids??? The decision was too much, then I remembered I had 13 FQs sitting aside of Tailor Made from forever ago that I was sure I was never going to use as a collection, but I didn't have the heart to break up. The colors aren't as bright as I would like, but I really like a few of the prints, so they won! This quilt is going to be a play blanket for Mazer anyway, so it doesn't really matter which colors I use, right?

Woven Block. I really like Jennifer's version. SO much better than mine, but I'm okay with it because I'm just using up stash here! Plus. mine's going to be pooped and puked on. The drab colors are better for that!

Snowball Block with Tailor Made

Snowball Block. I actually really like the blue scissor print and this cute flower print. It has spools, scissors and little worms on it! These two prints are the reason I bought this set in the first place. Then Half Moon Modern came out and I had lots more scissor options and this set fell by the wayside.

I JUST got into my sewing room today and I am hoping to make some good headway. I love crossing things off my "To-Do" list! I've got a nice playlist going of Tegan and Sara, Rilo Kiley, and Death Cab for Cutie, a full cup of tea, and the hubster home to watch the baby! Wish me luck!
