I actually got a lot of sewing in this past weekend.
We were supposed to go to California to spend the weekend at my in-laws' condo. Instead Clara got sick. Then I got sick. Then Brent. Then his dad.
This weekend was doomed from the start.
But, it ended up being a blessing disguised as a vomit inducing flu bug. I not only got a three day stay-cation, I got a free weekend. FREE! One I thought would be spent lounging in the cool Oceanside air. Spent reading on the porch watching the waves against the pier. One away from home where I would ignore the pending laundry and sewing and errands that would inevitably cause me stress on the ride home.
I got all that finished and more.
I even HAND STITCHED binding on Miss Maze's Peacock Elephant Quilt. For those of you who don't know me well, binding is my arch nemesis. I hate it. With a passion. I'm pretty sure it hates me back. It's a mutual hatred.
Anyway, my sister stopped by, so I had someone to hold it up for pictures:
We can count this as finish number two for the year! Woot! Woot!
The white area is FMQ with swirls and the Lark is quilted with organic waves. I quilted just off the seams for the rest of the quilt.
I am going to link this up at my friend Nancy's blog, Owen's Olivia. She recently completed her very first quilt EVER and is holding a linky party for people to share some of their favorite quilts. Personally, I think she's just nosey :) but if you've completed a quilt ever (which I know most of you have) please link up! She would love the support and it won't take much time!
So sorry you guys have all got the lurgy, but Eeep that is a pretty quilt!
ReplyDeleteThat bug you all got sounds nasty! Hope you are all well now. The quilt, on the other hand, is absolutely fabolous!
ReplyDeleteLove your new quilt - especially the elephat fabric.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt, Danny! Your daughter is going to look super cute snuggling with it! Hope you are all feeling better now!
ReplyDeleteeep! Sorry everyone got sick, but glad the weekend wasn't a bust! Clara's quit is fabulous! I too share you're hatred of binding, I can't for the life of my get the machine binding right, so I hand bind.. and boy its tedious..
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with you pukers now!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt and your sister has cute nails!
Looks great - I've been wanting to do a whole cloth quilt - this is such great fabric to do so with. I followed your suggestion and linked up to Owen Olivia's - thanks.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to face the dreaded sickies! Especially with a baby! Thats the worst watching them not feel good too! I love the elephant print! I am hoping after May 2nd I dont hate binding anymore.... Im taking a four hour binding class!
ReplyDeleteSorry you all were sick. I hate binding as well. My soon to be 74 year old mom does all of my binding.
ReplyDeleteHow awful that you all got sick! Yet somewhat great as you got a lot finished!
ReplyDeleteSo in love with the fabric on the quilt!
So glad your sister wore nail varnish to match the coral stripe on the quilt... ;o)
ReplyDeleteHope you're all feeling better now!
Fantastic finish Danny! Seriously gorgeous (especially the non girly nature of it!) Since I have a quilting fetish, would you pretty please mind posting some gratuitous close-ups?
ReplyDeleteMiss Clara Mae has a lovely new quilt to barf all over now. I am so sorry you were all sick. I guess it wasn't in the cards for us to get together this weekend, was it?
ReplyDeleteHope you're all feeling better!
